Research into costumes and props we have chosen for our music video

As the genre of our music video is Hip-Hop, we needed an urban mise-en-scene so decided that the protagonist will be dressed in casual urban clothes such as a hoodie, jeans and trainers and urban props needed to be used e.g when the protagonist sets fire to her ex-boyfriend's letters towards the end of the music video, we decided that we are going to use a lighter to burn these rather than matches to make it look more urbanised. We also needed paper so that our protagonist can read these as if they are the letters from her boyfriend and the phone on which she receives the text message from him.

Below are some images of the kind of clothes our protagonist will be wearing. These images are of clothes she has in her wardrobe.

A hoody is a typically urban, casual thing to wear so our protagonist will be wearing one in our music video to fit the mise-en-scene. Hoodies are seen as urban as they have a lot of negative connotations, people assume hoodies are for criminals who want to hide their face or look 'cool'. However, some people say that certain types of jeans also have negative connotations to do with criminality. Hoodies are often associated with bleakness and people from less well-off backgrounds and they are stereotypically what people of those classes wear, especially teenagers which is what our protagonist is.
Jeans are another casual piece of clothing that would match our urban mise-en-scene.

Below are the props we will use
The lighter will be needed for when the protagonist burns her ex boyfriends letters. We will use a lighter instead of matches again to highligh the urban mise-en-scene.

This is model of the phone we will be using when the protagonist receives the text of 'It's over am sorry, I've found someone else' so is a very important prop in our video
Paper will be needed for when the protagonist burns her ex boyfriend's letters.

As we will not be using the studio to film anything (as we want to keep it as naturalistic as possible because of the mise-en-scene and storyline), we don't need any other costume or props other than the ones already mentioned.

In the original How To Love video, costume used includes the hospital dressing gowns when the protagonist is in hospital, and the clothes that the doctor wears. Other costumes include clothes suitable for the mise-en-scene of college/school where the protagonist is filmed. There is also a pole used when the protagonist is pole dancing in the nightclub and indecent costume is worn when she is performing for the men. Because it's quite a naturalistic video and there is no dramatic performance, these are the actually the only costume and props used, likewise, we will not be using a lot.

The only props we are going to include is the cigarette lighter and letter for when the protagonist burns the letter. We are also going to make sure our protagonist wear simple, casual clothes. eeeddddd
