Technology we used in our pre-production work

In order to produce our music video, we needed to use technology. These included cameras to film and take photographs with and Apple Macs to edit our work. The software we used was called Final Cut Pro. We needed to use Photoshop to make our poster and digipak covers with. Other groups used the studio and green screening to film things for their video, however, we didn't need to use these things as we didn't need to use any special effects in our video except for the effects we have created using the editing software.

In order to film, we learnt how to put the camera on using the power button, which when done removed the cover of the lens which in turn allowed us to see what we were filming. We learnt how to use the the scroller at the top of the camera to zoom in and zoom out and how to use the pause and start button. The tripod was essential as we had to use this to keep the camera stable when filming and the handle on the tripod needed to be used for pan shots. We also learnt how to use the tripod in terms of the different height levels it could go to which was essential for our filming as we filmed at different heights, for example when we were filming the protagonist burning the letter, we had the tripod at a low level and filmed using a low-angle shot to make her look dominant. The camera was also used to take pictures of the protagonist for the album cover, digipak covers and poster.

We didn't use the studio for anything because of the fact that our video didn't require this. We did however need to use the Apple Mac computers to do the editing by using the editing software Final Cut Pro to edit the filming and used the tools on there to do so. We also used the Photoshop software on there to make our digipak covers, album cover and poster. We needed to use Photoshop to make the protagonist 'grey' and leave the background coloured but make it look slightly cartoony as if to show that she isn't coloured because she's upset and the world in which she is in seems like a fantasy.

For our video we needed to use a mobile phone to show the protagonist receiving the text of "It's over, am sorry" which was technology needed for the video.
