FIRST SCENE SHOT LIST
- In this scene, we will begin with a close-up of the mobile phone on which will appear the text message 'It's over, am sorry I've found someone else' showing that the protagonist's boyfriend is leaving her and this is the topic marker for the rest of the music video. The grammatical error on the text message will be used to add to the naivety of the two teenagers and shows that they are teens.
- After this, we will show a close-up of the protagonist's facial expression which will show the expression of 'distraught'. We will then take a medium pan shot of the play area of Hulme Park to establish where the protagonist is. The play area will be completely empty which will show the theme of loneliness-exactly the emotion that the protagonist is feeling. Parks are a common place for broken-hearted teenagers to go to clear their heads or think about things as our protagonist is doing. This is also a park where her and her boyfriend used to go to regularly and she could be here to gain closure.
- A medium shot of the swing 'swinging' on its own will show how lonely she is at this moment in time which matches to the girl's own loneliness, it is then in the next shot that we will film a medium shot of the girl swinging on the swing from behind her.
- Long shots of our protagonist walking through the deserted park will again emphasise how lonely she is feeling.
- A high-angle long shot of the protagonist sitting on the bench on her own looking at the empty spot next to her will once again emphasise her loneliness and how heartbroken she is. The fact that this will be a high-angle shot will make her look quite inferior, quite 'small' which is exactly how the protagonist is feeling. The fact that an overloaded rubbish bin will be shown next to her in the shotm with a council estate building behind her, will add to the bleakness of the situation, it will show her less well-off world.
The final scene will show the protagonist finally gaining closure and getting over losing her boyfriend. We will show this in the following ways.
- An extreme close-up of the letter from her boyfriend that the protagonist is reading will be taken
- A extreme close-up of the protagonist then burning the letter from her boyfriend will show she no longer wants any memory of him in her life, this will be shown in steps
- A close up of the protagonist's thumb flicking the lighter on with the camera still on a close-up of the burning letter that she will slowly drop to the floor
- An extreme close-up of the fire from the lighter making contact with the letter
- Another shot will be taken of the burning letter on the floor but will be a medium shot of just this solitary letter burning away
- In the last few shots, we will use medium shots and close-ups to show that the protagonist is now over her break-up. A medium shot of the protagonist sitting on the bench re-reading the text will be taken.
Below are some notes on our ideas for what kind of shots we will take throughout the filming of the video.
- A close-up of the text message on the phone will be shown and then a close-up of the protagonist's face which will show her laughing and shaking her head at her silliness to be so upset over someone not worth being upset for, looking up, and smiling ready to move on with her life.
